The Talking Drum originated in the West African area of Nigeria. Historically, Talking Drum masters could actually send messages, hold conversations, and talk to spirits with the hour-glass shaped drum. Squeezing the drum or pulling its strings are two of the many techniques that are used to produce the Talking Drum's characteristic rhythms and melodies. Featuring the professional sound quality of Acousticon shells and easily replaceable Remo drumheads, the Francis Awe series Talking Drum family includes the Kanago (11 in. x 6 in.), Esaju (15 in. x 6in.), Ejin (16 in. x 8 in.), and Iyailu (18 in. x 8 in.). Mallet sold separately.
