Description

Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was an Austrian composer and virtuoso pianist. His music reflects the transition from the Classical to the Romantic musical era. His Grand Concerto for bassoon and orchestra is an outstanding late-Classical concerto which explores the full range and expressive capability of the bassoon. The piece is dramatic and effective in this excellent transcription by Dr. Andrew Sprung for bass clarinet and piano. The transcription maintains the key and range of the original, allowing it to be performed either with the provided piano accompaniment, or with orchestra.

Listen below to hear the work in its original instrumentation!

Score: 39 pages, spiral bound. Part: 12 pages, booklet. Extended-range instrument required.
