School Services Representative

4/15/2024 - Groth Music is seeking a full-time team member to work in our School Services Department. This is a sales and support position aimed at providing exceptional customer service to music educators and students throughout several large school districts in the Twin Cities. It focuses on maintaining and expanding Groth's retail, instrument rental, and instrument repair businesses. Much of the team member’s time will be spent visiting schools in person with the use of a company vehicle. Full-time School Services employees work 36+ hours per week, with overtime required in the spring and fall months during our busy instrument rental seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Visit schools in person on a weekly schedule
  • Deliver merchandise and rental instruments
  • Pick up returns and repairs
  • Provide exceptional customer service to teachers, administrators and parents
  • Use sales system to invoice and return merchandise, place orders, take payments, view customer history, and generate price quotes and bids
  • Prep rental instruments according to teacher specifications
  • Assist with inventory tracking and management
  • Coordinate with staff in other departments, particularly our repair department
  • Proactively generate new business for the company
  • Securely handle customer information and business documents
  • Attend community events and the annual Minnesota Music Educators Association Midwinter Clinic

Qualifications and Experience

  • Background in music, with experience in band, orchestra or choir preferred
  • Enthusiasm for meeting with educators and supporting music education
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills
  • Basic computer skills, including competency with email, spreadsheet, word processing, and point of sale applications
  • Energetic and organized, with great attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and track multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence
  • Ability to lift musical instruments (including tubas, marimbas, etc.) and bring them to and from a vehicle
  • Excellent driving record
  • Prior retail and/or music education experience is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation includes a base hourly wage commensurate with experience, plus uncapped sales commission. Full-time employees receive company benefits including paid time off, company supported insurance, and a retirement plan.
