Robert Waugh

Robert Waugh is an active trumpet performer and instructor originally from Columbus, Ohio. There he attended Capital University’s Conservatory of Music where he received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. Upon his graduation, Mr. Waugh spent two years in Norman, Oklahoma attending the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance.

As a performer, Mr. Waugh has been active as both a soloist and an orchestral musician. He has performed with the Springfield, Mansfield, Central Ohio, Terre Haute, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestras. He has been a member of the Cathedral Brass Ensemble for the Archdiocese of Columbus, the Brass Menagerie Quintet, and the Surcy-Sudgen Brass Quartet.

In 2005 Mr. Waugh was the first runner-up in the Masters Division of National Trumpet Competition held each year at James Madison University in Fairfax, Virginia. He was also member of the University of Oklahoma Trumpet Ensemble that competed and were selected in the final rounds for the same competition in 2004 and 2005. He has performed with as a soloist with the Capital University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Barry Kopetz, and recorded with the Boston Brass as a member of the Wind Ensemble in 2004.

His primary teachers include James Reed, James Stokes Jr., Dr. Karl Sievers, and William Adam Professor Emeritus at Indiana University. He is currently a member of the International Trumpet Guild and the Pi Kappa Lambda honors fraternity.
