Shipping Information and Policies

When will my order ship?

Orders received on non-holiday weekdays by noon (12:00 p.m.) Central Time typically ship the same day, while orders received after that cut-off time typically ship the next business day. If we cannot ship your order by the end of the second business day, we will notify you by phone or email.

Weekends and Holidays: We do not ship on Saturday or Sunday, or on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas Day. Additionally, the U.S. Postal Service does not pick up or deliver mail on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day, or Veteran's Day. FedEx does operate on those federal holidays, though potentially with modified service.

How soon will I receive my order?

The time it takes for your order to reach you after it has left our store depends on which shipping option you select and your distance from Groth Music (Bloomington, MN). Below is a list of common U.S. Postal Service and FedEx shipping options along with corresponding delivery windows. To ensure that your order reaches you as soon as possible, we may choose a carrier other than the one you selected if it results in a faster or more reliable delivery time.

Is there anything that might delay my order?

Insufficient or invalid addresses are the most common source of shipping delays. Double check your address for accuracy and include your phone number to help us reach you promptly should a problem arise. Customers may be held responsible for shipping costs related to undeliverable packages. Note that FedEx cannot deliver to USPS post office boxes.

Severe weather may impact our ability to process your order, the ability of carriers to make their regularly scheduled pick-up, and transit times in general.

Inventory shortages will cause a delay. Our website usually indicates when an item is out of stock, but inventory inaccuracies or a lag in inventory status updates are possible. If an item is out of stock, we will back order it for you and send it as soon as we receive it from our vendor. Back orders usually last 1-2 weeks, but may last longer due to distribution issues, manufacturing delays, or importing times.

How are shipping rates calculated?

Several factors influence shipping rates:

  • Order weight and dimensions
  • Your location relative to Groth Music (Bloomington, MN)
  • How quickly you need your order
  • Carrier preference

It is possible that our website software will miscalculate shipping costs on very bulky or heavy items being shipped to certain shipping zones. We reserve the right to recalculate charges appropriately and contact you for your consent to the new amount before shipping.

How can I track my order?

An email with your USPS or FedEx tracking number is generated the day your order ships. If you created an account or logged into a preexisting account when you placed your order, you may log in at any time to view order status and tracking information.

Can I arrange to have my order delivered on a Saturday or Sunday?

None of the default shipping options offered on our website include guaranteed Saturday or Sunday delivery. If you require guaranteed weekend delivery, please contact us to make arrangements.

All U.S. Postal Service options include Saturday as a potential delivery day. Guaranteed Saturday and Sunday delivery are possible in some markets via Priority Mail Express. Please call to request this option.

FedEx Home Delivery now includes Saturday and Sunday delivery in large urban markets, while FedEx Express offers guaranteed Saturday delivery nearly everywhere in the U.S. for an additional fee. Please call to request or discuss these options.

Is it possible to expedite the delivery of out-of-stock items?

In some cases, particularly for large items or large quantities of items, we can ask our vendors to send your order to you directly, bypassing our store and shortening delivery time. If this service is of interest to you, please contact us to discuss your options. Additional fees may apply.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship only within the United States, its territories, and to Canada. Groth Music is not responsible for duties incurred as a result of international shipments.

Can I place my order online and pick it up at the store?

Yes, this option is available at checkout to customers with Minnesota and Wisconsin billing addresses. We will call or email you as soon as your "In-Store Pick-up" order is ready, usually within 12-48 hours pending inventory availability. There is no shipping or handling charge for this option.

Do you offer free shipping?

No, but our shipping rates reflect only what we are charged by our carriers plus a small additional amount to cover packaging materials. One exception is free delivery for students and teachers at Twin Cities area schools. See below for details.

Do you deliver to Twin Cities schools?

Yes, we provide free delivery to many schools in the Twin Cities metropolitan area via our school services team.

If you are a teacher at a Twin Cities area school and would like one of our reps to deliver your order, please begin by creating an account using your school email address. Next, before placing your first order, notify us at so that we can configure your new online account and link it to your existing school or district charge account. Once your account is established (usually within 24 hours), you will be able to place school-related orders free of sales tax and shipping charges, and pay by either credit card or purchase order.

If your child attends one of the schools we service and you would like merchandise delivered to them there, select the "Deliver to my child's school" option on the check-out page and answer the prompts.

School deliveries are made according to a predetermined weekly schedule and during the school year only.
