The Suite in B for oboe and piano by neoclassical American composer Ulysses Kay, one of the most important African American composers in the generation after William Grant Still.

Ulysses Kay was the nephew of Jazz musician King Oliver, and after being encouraged by William Grant Still, he attended the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Howard Hanson and Bernard Rogers. He later worked with Paul Hindemith.

This suite was selected by the International Double Reed Society as official repertoire for the final round of their 2022 Norma Hooks Young Artist Competition for Oboe. This edition is published by Prairie Dawg Press (via Imagine Music Company), and is edited by Bruce Gbur.
