Description
Three pieces arranged for piano from an orchestral suite of five movements. The orchestral suite was commissioned by Paul Whiteman and premiered on December 15, 1933, at the Metropolitan Opera House in the "Sixth Experiment in American Music." Later it was accompanied by excerpts from the poem, "The Deserted Plantation," by Paul Laurence Dunbar.
