Part One of Scales and Arpeggios for the Saxophone sets out all Scales, Arpeggios, Dominant Sevenths, Diminished Sevenths, and Chromatic Scales, presenting them firstly in their most compact unit of one octave, then expanding each one to a twelth and then to a two octave range. This layout, utilizing the suggested breathmarks is suitable for the Scale and Arpeggio requirements of Grading Examinations. Daily scalic practice with a metronome is a priority for Saxophonists of all levels of ability. The metronome must always be set at a comfortable speed, so that all scales are practied at the same speed. Clarity and precision at a slow speed is the only way to acquire an even and felxible technique.
