Description
ORBIT was inspired by the phenomenon of asteroids, planets or even stars being captured by the strong gravitational pull of another heavenly body. In this case, the usual outcome - catastrophic collision - is avoided and the music fades into the stillness of deep space. Of course the piece can also be taken to symbolise chance human encounters or emotional entanglements. Orbit was premiered in 1994 by Angel Whelan and Nigel Boddice. Includes performance score.
