Description
In 1989, Aagaard-Nilsen composed this four-movement work for unaccompanied euphonium for Helga Vetas. It was his first work for this instrument. It was later revised and called 4 Lyrical Pieces. The pieces are based on the instrument's ability for expressive playing. The full range of expression is used, from the most delicate to the vulgar. The piece is also an attempt to write poetry in music.
4 Lyrical Pieces was a required piece in the International Tuba-Euphonium Association "Euphonium Artist Competition" in 2001.
