Here are two Fritz Kreisler classics from Alt Wiener Tanzweisen' (Old Viennese Dance Tunes) arranged for alto sax by Wolfgang Birtel. Liebesfreud (Love's Joy) is vibrant and catchy while Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow) has a slightly elegiac coloring, but both have melodic charm and musical elegance. These pieces make for a sweet end to a recital program; Kreisler himself liked to play them as encores.
