Although the original text of Schubert's Ave Maria only begins with the words "Ave Maria" and is actually based on a poem by Walter Scott, the work is also well used for church services. Schott presents a version with the liturgical Latin text in a low-priced new edition. The edition contains the song in three keys for three different voice types: high (B flat major), middle (A flat major), and low (G major). The accompaniment can be played on piano or organ.
