Game Time - Concert Band

Game Time is about the excited anticipation of competition. The musical ideas relate to each other like members of a well-organized team. When the melody is tranferred from instrument to instrument, it is almost as if another team or player is chimin gin to let us know that they are ready. As much as can be seen as in sports, the main melody has a playful quality to it, with an emphasis often placed on notes outside the tonic chord, such as scale degrees 2 and 7. This adds just a bit of dissonance and whimsy. A feeling of fun should never be lost.
